Career Assessments

Achieving career success starts with identifying personal motivation and natural talent. Employers get the best out of employees when job requirements are in line with personality and skill set. Engaging a third party for assessment of these skill sets helps to bring new and fresh perspective to hiring or evaluating an employee. Without the bias that occurs when inside personnel are too close to a situation, a third party can offer new insight or confirm existing assumptions.

Entrepreneurs, business leaders, professionals in every field, students, teachers, husbands, wives – individuals keen to develop personally and professionally are offered the gift of increased self-awareness through the use of assessments and learning tools.

Assessment takes the guesswork out of theories. It provides a means by which all parties can be presented with information that often comes from the participant's own self-reporting. In many cases, it is exactly the confirmation that an individual needs to gain clarity and momentum for forward movement and growth.

Elite Resumes provides the following assessments and learning tools:

Bar-On Emotional Quotient Inventory (EQi)
Bar-On EQ-i was developed to answer the basic question: Why do some people with high IQ fail in life, while others with moderate IQ succeed? It has become increasingly apparent that the more emotional and social intelligence (common sense and street smarts) we have, the easier it is to be efficient and successful in our daily lives. This is because IQ (cognitive intelligence) is different than EQ (emotional intelligence). The Bar-On EQi helps individuals and groups take an inventory of their emotional and social skills through the use of a 133-item, on-line questionnaire. Areas of strength and opportunity are identified and an action plan for development is suggested. This is an excellent assessment tool for professional, career, team, and leadership development.

Campbell Interest Skill Survey
The Campbell Interest and Skill Survey (CISS) is a computer scored vocational assessment that examines a wide range of occupations. It compares the similarity of your interests and skills with those who are successfully engaged in these occupations, thereby helping you to explore your most viable options.

Career Development & Job Search Profile
This is a four-step process for job and career success, developed by Richard L. Knowdell, National Certified Career Counsellor. It is a hands-on, non-threatening tool that explores career values, motivated skills, personal style, and career interests, thereby creating a valuable profile upon which to base exploration of options and development of a go-forward plan. The Career Development & Job Search Profile is most effective when used with individuals considering a career change but unsure of what that might be.

Entrepreneurial Style & Success Indicator
The Entrepreneurial Style & Success Style Indicator (ESSI) is a concise, straightforward, easy-to-use instrument based on a combination of personal style theories and documented research with 4,000 plus entrepreneurs. While not designed to produce a psychometric evaluation, its unique structure creates a powerful learning and communication tool for those considering a move into the entrepreneurial world. The ESSI identifies factors required for entrepreneurial success as well as the styles of behavior that may demonstrate a person’s ability to succeed in an entrepreneurial/intrapreneurial environment. Further, the ESSI guides individuals through necessary behavior style modification to increase their effectiveness in entrepreneurial and business situations.

Job Style Indicator
The Job Style Indicator (JSI) is the ideal communication tool to use when it comes to assessing job positions based on types of tasks and style behaviors. The JSI helps to bring clarity to the process of managing job applicants, assessing current employees, and/or helping a group of supervisors reach agreement on how a particular position should best be filled. This tool can be used for team development, performance improvement, job orientation, and career planning.

Leadership Skills Inventory
The Leadership Skills Inventory is a skills based leadership development tool for leaders in business, education, government and the community to help people understand the importance of creating leadership environments.
The Leadership Skills Inventory (LSI) approaches leadership from the fact that leaders can be made, they don’t have to be born. It is called transforming leadership. The LSI is based on 12 foundational beliefs that highlight the kind of leadership needed for the 21st century and beyond.

The LSI has two separate assessments. The “self” provides the leader with a tool for assessing his or her effectiveness in self-management, communications, counseling, problem-management skills, consulting and versatility. The “others” assessment is just what it is says it is. This is an assessment that the leader can distribute to key associates and subordinates for feedback on his or her effectiveness in various critical leadership areas.

A total of 56 skills are spread over five sections. Once completed, participants will understand what they need to do to increase their leadership skills, and will help all organization members understand the skills and roles required to lead effectively.

The LSI is quick and easy to read, understand and complete. While self-scoring and self-interpreting the LSI is both informative and personally revealing. Space is given for each participant to put together a game plan to develop and work on improving their overall effectiveness. For each of the low scoring areas the participants will identify the new behavior they are planning to work on, their commitment and or training they will work through.

Anyone who is interested in increasing his or her leadership effectiveness will benefit by working through the Leadership Skills Inventory.

It assists sales professionals to assess their preferred way of selling, and then challenges them to increase their sales style flexibility.

Self Worth Inventory
Many research studies have revealed that a powerful force lives within each of us that can either make or break us socially. This internal reality is often called our self-worth. Self-worth is a measure of the most personal and intimate relationship we will ever have with anyone who is alive: ourselves. We must live with ourselves 24/7. Wherever we go, there we are. The Self-Worth Inventory (SWI) helps individuals identify, understand, and develop leadership within their own personalities, so they may increase their level of self-management skills.

It is designed to help participants better understand how these internal influences direct their daily lives, and impact their personal working relationships. Many people assume that work is the major cause of stress in their lives. The SIHP details stress management including work, but also delves into personal, social, organizational and time related stress. By working through this assessment one is able to develop coping and problem-solving skills along with wellness and performance improvement. The purpose of this tool is to encourage individuals to develop a plan to increase overall levels of health, well-being and performance.

The VPI has been widely used not only in helping people in the area of value identification and decision-making, but has also been used in relationship and team building development. It is a wonderful tool in improving interpersonal communication and conflict resolution.

360-Degree Feedback
People need feedback. That’s because most of us have blind spots; we don’t see ourselves as others do. Feedback is essential to improving performance and fully appreciating one’s value. An effective and anonymous vehicle for providing feedback is through third-party rating or 360-degree feedback. Elite Resumes can provide 360-degree reports/feedback based on an interview-based approach or through the use of a computer-driven program.
